1. Do you understand Microsoft’s shared responsibility model?
Microsoft guarantees uptime and service availability, not data protection. If your data is deleted, corrupted, or encrypted, recovery is your responsibility.
2. How long would your data actually be recoverable for? Do you know what your retention policies are?
Microsoft’s retention tools are designed for short-term recovery, not full backup. Files deleted from recycle bins are permanently erased after about 30 days, yet most organisations take over 140 days to realise that data is missing.
3. Have you considered what would happen if:
- A user accidentally deletes a critical SharePoint document, or a malicious insider removes sensitive OneDrive data?
