Fireside chat with Michael Bowser as he closes the chapter on 39 years of service at Data#3

After almost 39 years, Data#3 Executive General Manager, Michael Bowser, has announced his retirement.

When Bowser first walked into the old Bowen Hills office as a 25-year-old in 1987, typewriters were still in use. As the business quickly transitioned to computers, he experienced firsthand the mindset that continues to define Data#3: a commitment to always move forward and deliver the digital future.

“That was one thing that always stuck with me. And through the eras, we have always pushed to be competitive and efficient as the technologies change so we can serve our customers the best we can,” Bowser said.

“Because of that natural openness to evolve and embrace the future, it was easy to stay on the pulse.”

Today, Data#3 continues to embrace emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to help customers stay ahead and achieve greater efficiency.

Bowser began his career as a technical engineer and, over nearly four decades at Data#3, excelled in roles spanning services, presales, sales, and executive leadership.

He played a crucial role in establishing Data#3’s Managed Services and Networking divisions, significantly influencing the company’s operational and sales processes. In 2024, as Executive General Manager, he oversaw the delivery of Data#3’s service portfolio, including consulting, professional services, people solutions and managed services while also managing the company’s IT business operations. His experience and insights drove Data#3’s success as a leading technology services provider in Australia.

Bowser said he was excited to watch Data#3 continue to grow over the coming years and has plans to explore creative endeavours of his own in retirement.

“Data#3 has always had an excellent culture, which is a measure of a great business,” he said.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly looking forward to having more time to sit on the couch watching cricket, but I’m curious about AI and the solutions it offers, and I plan to keep exploring that as an interest.”

Data#3 Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Brad Colledge, commented, Data#3’s culture of collaboration and innovation is deeply embedded, and we remain focused on helping our customers flourish as technology evolves. Michael was a huge of contributor of that, and always made time to share his knowledge and experience widely across the business, ensuring that our teams are equipped to carry forward this vision.”

“Michael leaves behind an enduring legacy of leadership, innovation, and commitment to customer success. We thank him for his remarkable contribution and wish him all the best.”
