Surface Laptop 5G for Business: The final piece in a connected, flexible Surface lineup

Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop with 5G isn’t just a product launch; it’s the realisation of a vision. With the introduction of a Surface laptop form factor that includes built-in 5G, Microsoft now offers a fully connected, adaptable device range that suits any modern work setting. Now, customers who favour a traditional clamshell design can access the benefits of 5G without leaving the Surface family.

This is a natural next step for businesses wanting to stay agile, connected, and future-ready.

Completing the Surface 5G portfolio

This isn’t Microsoft’s first 5G-enabled Surface device, with government agencies, field workers, and hybrid teams already making the most of Surface mobility combined with cellular connectivity. In fact, 5G has been available in the Surface Pro range for several years, dating back to the Surface Pro 7+, and LTE capabilities were introduced with the Surface Pro 5, so Microsoft has a strong track record of delivering mobile connectivity.

What’s changed now is the form factor, as Surface customers who wanted 5G needed to choose a 2-in-1 device. The new Surface Laptop 5G offers customers the same always-on connectivity in a more traditional laptop format, one that many business users still prefer for their daily workflows.

Built for business, designed for choice

The new 13.8-inch Surface Laptop 5G for Business joins a mature and well-rounded family of Surface devices that cater to almost every business computing need. Whether your organisation prioritises battery life, always-on connectivity, app compatibility, or AI performance, there’s a Surface to suit everyone.

This model runs on Intel’s Ultra Core Series 2 processor, which is significant especially for customers running legacy Windows applications or critical business software not yet optimised for ARM. Unlike the recently launched ARM (Advanced RISC Machines)-based Surface Copilot+ PCs, this device offers cellular connectivity while remaining fully compatible with existing x86 environments.

Engineered for performance and productivity

Microsoft has made thoughtful design choices to ensure this 5G device is just as capable as its Wi-Fi-only siblings. Highlights include:

To improve connectivity, the laptop features dual antennas, one on each side of the palm rest, ensuring your signal stays strong regardless of how you type or hold the device. Including 5G involves no compromises either, everything you’d expect from a premium Surface device is here, now with the added freedom of 5G.

Certified to work, not just claimed to connect

One of the most important benefits of this Surface laptop is that it’s not just 5G-capable; it’s 5G enabled. Highlighting how Microsoft has worked directly with Australian carriers to test and validate the device for their networks. Unlike other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) that simply include a 5G modem, Surface devices go through rigorous certification process to ensure real-world performance and reliability.
