When people ask what I do, I usually keep it simple: “I help customers solve problems.” But over the years, I’ve come to realise that my role is about so much more. It’s about relationships, teamwork, trust, and a shared goal of delivering meaningful outcomes for customers across every part of their business.
I’m an Account Executive in the Infrastructure team at Data#3, where I work with customers across a wide spectrum, from supplying cables and laptops to designing high-end infrastructure and cloud solutions. It’s a role that’s continually evolved alongside my own career. No two days are the same, and that’s exactly what I love about it.
My journey at Data#3 began over a decade ago. Early on, I was lucky to be surrounded by colleagues who were not only experts in their field but also generous with their time and knowledge. It was the kind of environment where asking questions was encouraged, and learning happened through real collaboration.
That culture shaped my approach to work. I quickly understood that solving challenges in this industry takes more than just technical expertise, it takes collaboration, trust, and a shared commitment to delivering real outcomes. From the beginning, I learned that my role isn’t just about delivering technology. It’s about making things simpler, more connected, and ultimately more effective for the people we support.
Over time, I found my groove. I enjoyed the variety of challenges, the fast pace, and the constant opportunity to learn. But what stood out most was the support network around me. Whether I needed help designing a solution, understanding a new technology, or navigating a customer challenge, there was always someone willing to help.
Collaboration is at the core of how we work at Data#3. I regularly partner with our software licensing and maintenance teams, and we often meet with customers together. Instead of approaching conversations in isolation, we present as a united team. Technology solutions today rarely exist in silos, so when customers are looking to innovate or transform, it’s important we consider the full picture. Taking a collaborative, end-to-end approach not only makes the process more seamless, but also shows our customers that we’re aligned, integrated, and fully invested in helping them achieve their goals.
The real difference comes from our incredible engineers. Their technical expertise is second to none, but more importantly, they care. They’re invested in solving problems with us, side by side. Whether we’re designing a complex infrastructure solution or addressing a unique customer need, I know I can count on them to bring ideas, insights, and options to the table.
That level of collaboration isn’t something I take for granted. It helps us move faster, deliver better outcomes, and build trust not just with our customers, but with each other.
Building relationships that go beyond the transaction
What energises me most is working closely with our customers. I’ve always valued the power of face-to-face conversations. Whether it’s a planned meeting in their office or a casual chat over coffee, showing up in person builds stronger relationships, deeper trust, and a better understanding of what truly matters to them.
Of course, virtual meetings and phone calls still play an important role, especially when working with our regional customers. But whenever I get the chance to meet someone in person, I take it. It adds a personal layer to the partnership, which often leads to better long-term outcomes.
Some of the strongest relationships I’ve built began with simple, honest conversations, not pitches or presentations, just listening. Understanding what matters to our customers and showing that I’m here to support them lays the foundation for trust. That personal connection built with trust and commitment is what it takes and truly unlocks the real value innovation, transformation, and meaningful progress.
Like all roles, mine comes with its demands. There are meetings to run, emails to respond to, follow-ups to track, and opportunities to progress. It’s fast-moving and can be unpredictable at times, but what makes it work is the flexibility I’ve found here. Some days I’m online before sunrise to get ahead of the day. On others, I step away mid-morning to attend an event at my kids’ school. I’ve always made it a priority to communicate openly with my manager, and that trust has always been returned. As long as the work gets done and customers are supported, there’s the freedom to manage your day in a way that works for you.
One of the things I value most is knowing that my job doesn’t get in the way of being an engaged dad, meaning I can always enjoy a healthy work-life balance. The hybrid work model at Data#3 makes that possible. I value my time in the office connecting with the team, but I also appreciate the space and flexibility that working from home provides. That balance allows me to bring my best to both my work and my family, and that’s something I don’t take for granted.
What continues to impress me about Data#3 is how future-focused the business is. The technology landscape is constantly shifting, and our organisation evolves right alongside it. That means new opportunities are always around the corner, whether you want to deepen your expertise in your current space or explore something completely different.
Personally, I’ve found a real rhythm in working with our customers and partners. I enjoy the problem-solving, the relationships, and the fast-paced nature of the work. But knowing there are broader career paths available gives me the confidence that I can keep growing, keep learning, and keep challenging myself.
More than anything, Data#3 feels like home. It’s not just a place where I work. It’s a community where people look out for one another, where you’re supported to succeed, and where you feel like you’re part of something bigger. I’ve built lasting relationships here, stayed connected with colleagues across the years, and always felt like I belonged.
If someone were considering a role at Data#3, I’d tell them this: the job description will tell you what you’ll be doing, but it won’t capture how it feels to work here. It’s the people, the culture, and the way we show up for each other that truly make the difference.
I’m proud of what I’ve built here, and even more excited about what’s still to come.
