Leading Australian Technology Company Data#3 Celebrates 40 Years in Business

Data#3, a leading Australian technology solutions provider, today announced that 2017 marks a major milestone for the company – 40 years in business.

The company celebrated with customers, staff, and vendor partners, across five different state locations. The Brisbane event, which took place after Data#3’s flagship event, JuiceIT, was also attended by the current Data#3 Board and some original founders; including Terry Powell. Terry has been the single constant since starting the business in 1977, to his current role as a non-executive director on the Data#3 Board.

Data#3 Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Laurence Baynham, commented, “This is a great achievement for any Australian business. Thank you to everyone who helped us to reach this 40-year milestone. From humble beginnings, Data#3 has risen to become Australia’s leading technology services and solutions company.”

The company’s history dates back to 1977, where in a garage in the suburbs of Brisbane, Terry Powell and Graham Clark started a new IT application software business. In 1984 Powell, Clark and Associates merged with Allbrand Typewriters & Office Machines Pty Ltd. to create Data#3 Limited.

This year also marks another great occasion for Data#3, as twenty years ago in December 1997, the company floated on the ASX with a market capitalisation of $15 million. Today, it is approximately $260 million and the team has grown to over 1,100 staff across 14 locations.

Baynham concluded, “Data#3 has a unique heritage and a culture that enables our customers to succeed in achieving their business objectives through innovative technology solutions, and Data#3 has become a brand that customers trust. Our 40-year history is a big differentiator as it demonstrates our continued stability and success in an ever-changing industry, and we look forward to adapting to the market opportunities for the next 40 years. As the company moves ahead – I look forward to working with our customers, partners, shareholders, community and, our people, to harness the power of people and technology for a better future.”
