Gartner Video Discussion: What is SASE?

Coined by Gartner in 2019, Secure Access Service Edge, or SASE, has quickly become a new player in the world of network security. Enter 2020 and the monumental shift to remote working, the use cases and value proposition for SASE have become increasingly apparent.

SASE combines network security functions such as Secure Web Gateway, Cloud Access Service Broker (CASB), Firewall as a Service and Zero Trust Network Access, with WAN capabilities like SD-WAN to support the dynamic remote access needs of today’s anywhere workplace.

Given the extended remote working arrangements of 2020, the limitations of perimeter-based network security solutions have been highlighted to IT teams. Organisations continuing to back-haul cloud traffic through data centres for security are creating unnecessary barriers and latency.

Prisma Access, a SASE solution from Palo Alto Networks, presents a new solution for securing remote workers. In this video, watch two of the industry’s leading experts, Gartner Research Vice President Neil MacDonald and Palo Alto Networks Field CTO Jason Georgi, discuss what a SASE solution is, the benefits and more.
