Data#3 entered a team in Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer to help raise money and support the critical work of the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR), a world leader in cancer research and one of the largest and most successful medical research institutes in Australia. The two day 220km cycling journey up to Wivenhoe Dam and back took place on the 18th – 19th August, 2012.
Cancer is too big a disease to ignore. By riding in this event, the Data#3 team are helping to do something about it.
To help support this great cause and generate awareness within the company a variety of fundraising events were held, including a State of Origin Night, Data#3 Auction, Band Night and a Data#3’s biggest morning tea held across the different company locations. To further support the team as part of their training preparation – a wind trainer day was held in the Toowong office with a host of senior management riders competing in various challenges against the team members to help raise the much needed donations.
The Data#3 Team of Steve Bolland, Craig McDonald, Shaun Duncan, Merrilyn Gardiner, Terence Bonner, Justin Cook, Brett Bolam and Lance Davis completed a great ride and raised over $20K of the $5.2M raised for QIMR. Special mention to the four team members who rode the extra 50km afterburner ride to add their extra support.
Congratulations to the Data#3 team – a great effort and you have done everybody proud!
