Data#3 powering the technology behind the 2009 World Transplant Games

BRISBANE, Australia—28 August 2009—Data#3 Limited [ASX: DTL], a national technology company today announced that it is the official technology partner for the 17th World Transplant Games, currently taking place on the Gold Coast from August 22-30.
The World Transplant Games encourage transplant recipients to keep a healthy lifestyle – therefore increasing their likelihood of a long and successful transplant. The games also aim to raise global awareness of the worldwide shortage of organs which leave thousands of patients waiting and/or dying on waiting lists.
The first global sporting event running on Windows 7
The 2009 World Transplant Games is the first global sporting event to use technology running Microsoft’s new desktop operating system – Windows 7.
According to Data#3’s Microsoft Practice Manager, Scott Gosling, “Windows 7 has enabled us to deliver a stable, secure and reliable environment for games volunteers to work with.”
“Simple improvements in Windows 7 – for example power management and the resulting increase in laptop battery life – mean that volunteers are able to extend the time they are away from a power source – critical in a sporting event such as the World Transplant Games.”
As part of the sponsorship of the games, Data#3’s Managed Services team has supplied critical IT infrastructure such as desktops, laptops, printers and network equipment to support games volunteers to coordinate events and distribute results, as well as enabling athletes to communicate with their families and friends around the world.
Complementing the infrastructure, Data#3 has also deployed a wireless network to cover the main event venues, and will provide on-site and remote managed services to support the games throughout the nine days of competition.

$37 000 raised to support Transplant Australia
Further to its support as the technology provider for the games, Data#3 recently brought together customers and technology vendors (including Microsoft, Cisco and HP) to raise $37 000 for Team Life Transplant Australia at the 2009 Data#3 Charity Golf Day.
The charity will use this money to further its objectives of increasing the rate of organ and tissue donation; improving the community’s understanding of transplantation; and providing its members with support, education and guidance to improve their health and quality of life.
The Chairman of the 17th World Transplant Games, and CEO of Transplant Australia, Chris Thomas said The IT infrastructure provided by Data#3 had ensured the games were conducted professionally with the efficient transfer of results and data.
“Data#3 has gone way beyond its financial sponsorship. The IT support has shown that they are committed to the important public health promotion of organ and tissue donation,” Mr Thomas said.
“These games highlight amazing stories of determination and survival. Equally Data#3 has been determined to ensure we receive a state-of-the-art service and IT back-end.”
