Enterprise Mobility: the solution roadmap

Previous articles in this series have described enterprise mobility as a game-changing, organisation-wide capability for improved responsiveness, agility and competitive advantage, and looked at some of the bigger challenges to implementation.

This article looks at the elements that will support your mobility journey, ensuring you understand and articulate your objectives and strategy as a critical first step, before jumping to solution planning.

Unless you have a very simple operating environment, no one vendor can address all the different aspects of mobility. Each vendor has their strengths and when you start to draw together products from multiple vendors to address all your requirements, you’re looking at a potentially complex architecture.

For such a critical business project, there’s no room for learning on the job, which is where Data#3’s experience comes to the fore. From the many mobility solutions we’ve developed and implemented for organisations large and small, we’ve developed a mobility architecture (Figure 1) which brings together the elements we’ve discussed in previous articles: management; security and governance; analytics; an analysis of your users and devices and the core services you need to support an enterprise mobility environment.

Figure 1 : Bringing the Anywhere Workplace together

Starting from an analysis of your business drivers and operational strategy, our process then systematically works with you to examine each element of the architecture and to document your current and desired states.

The blue blocks help you set your overall direction and strategy, working from:

  • The outside in – Security and governance first, then management, followed by analytics
  • Bottom to top – Core services to underpin service delivery with the workspace services you need to deliver and support to cater for the majority of possible device and user scenarios.

The circles then help to draw out the specific functional requirements for your solution.

The result of this exercise is to ensure you have a complete understanding of all your business and functional requirements, against which you can evaluate the different products and services on the market.

With Data#3’s partnerships with key vendors, certified consultants and our enterprise mobility track record, you can achieve your enterprise mobility potential. Work with us to architect and implement your Anywhere Workplace.
