One of the big topics of conversation these days is ransomware – a type of attack where criminals hijack sensitive information and force victims to pay a ransom to release their files. Even after the ransom is paid, the attacker may hijack the same victim again in the future. Ransomware attacks are the fastest growing method of attack this year.

Barracuda recently commissioned a study of enterprise IT users and found that nearly 50% of those surveyed indicated they had been hit by one or more ransomware attacks in the last 12 months. Further exacerbating this problem is the fact that many of these companies do not have proper disaster recovery plans in place to deal with these types of attacks quickly and efficiently.
